Shocking Things You Need To Know About UNIOSUN Chancellor

No comments :

Folorunsho Alakija is a Nigerian
billionaire fashion-designer and
Executive Director at FAMFA Oil, an
indigenous Nigerian oil and gas
exploration and production company.

Folorunsho Alakija was born on July 15
1951 in Ikorodu, Lagos State. She
originates from a large family: her dad,
Chief L. A. Ogbara, had 8 wives and 52
children in his lifetime. She was the
second surviving child, her mom was
the first wife.

She and her younger sister were sent to
school abroad when she was 7 years old.
They went to a school in Wales, a
private school for girls in Northern
Wales, and they were the only coloured
(black) girls in the school. And because
their fellow mates couldn’t pronounce
their names, they coined them names –
Flo for Folorunsho and Doyle for Doyin.

They were in the school for 4 years, and
at age 11 she and Doyle moved back to
Nigeria at the request of their parents
who didn’t want them to lose their
African values, culture and tradition.

In 1976, Folorunsho Alakija got married
to her loving husband. The couple have
4 kids, all boys. All of them schooled
abroad and are all engaged one way or
the other in the family business.
Folorunsho’s mom used to be a fabric
merchant and she used to help out, and
through that she learnt a lot.

After leaving the corporate world in 1984, she
went to the UK to study fashion
designing.

A year after her training, she came back
to Nigeria and started her fashion house
– Supreme Stitches at a 3-Bedroom
apartment in Surulere, Lagos. A year
after establishing the company, she
emerged as the best designer in the
country in 1986.

On Folorunsho’s involvement in the oil
and gas industry, it is known that
through a friend whom she met while
was still actively involved in the world
of fashion, they got involved in the
business of oil. There was an oil bloc no
one wanted at that time for several
reasons, it was this same oil bloc they
got allocated.

They were approached in late 1996 by
the then oil giant Texaco who were sure
the bloc had potentials as they had done
their homework well. After negotiations
that spanned 3 months they agreed on
terms and the rest like they say is
history.

Later Texaco became Chevron and they
struck oil in commercial quantity.

Secret On How To Graduate With Good GP In Uniosun By Faleyimu Oluwasegun Mighty A Fresh Graduate Of Uniosun

No comments :

The article below written by a fresh graduate of Uniosun; Faleyimu Oluwasegun Mighty will teach you the secret ways to make your GP in Uniosun.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR GP

Have you seen or come across a first class student before? Do you see the way people respect and idolize scholars in your department or may be one of your friends had consistently maintained a 4point GP and you sometimes wish it was you had such a wonderful academic standing?

Well, no matter your GP{ or even CGPA now, you too can build a successful GP probably if you consider what I am about to share with you. The major objective of any student in a higher institution is to be academically successful and even though we are not all gifted the same way.

Right from the first day I stepped my feet into the University as a student, I knew I must graduate with a very good grade and I have always been working to see my dreams come to past.

I have since discovered that in higher institutions, everyone is on his or her own. It is an individual race and you can achieve it only if you believe in yourself. You must strive to be the best you can be, read, prepare steadily and avoid poor grades. Be informed that one thing grade F does is to kill your GP.

As a graduate, I have long ago realized what students take for granted. It is the class works and continuous assessment. I did not joke with them, some people think they failed a course because they did not do well in the examination but they had already failed before the examination.

In addition, all courses are important especially those with high number of units. You must try to pass them well. You must not settle for anything other than A or B. I call courses with high unit the “dangerous boosters”.

More importantly, as a student, you must also accord your lecturers great respect. This is because to whom much is given, much is expected. Furthermore, to build a good GP, you have to avoid distraction. In short, anything that is capable of distracting you can destroy you.

Finally, there is no short-cut; you need to read all the time. To lead, you simply have to read. Though you may not have fair for some courses but you can build yourself to cope with the course by attending tutorials and reading rigorously on the courses. To this end, you too can be a scholar. Pray, believe in God, and make sure you believe in yourself.

Must Read: Heart Touching Story By Uniosun Student Will Make You Cry

No comments :

LIFE IN BABIDA FOREST

We sat under a mango tree in the night listening to the folk tales from Mallam Sala. We were smiling as he was narrating the comic life of tortoise who was in power tussle with Lion.

The narration was accompanied with songs and gyration. After some minutes, we heard a sound that shook the ground. “Is that asteroid? Or what is it?” Ahmed asked.

We ran inside in fear because of the sound which we could not predict its source. I was shocked when I saw Mallam Sala running away.

He had narrated the tale of the fearless farmer and affirmed that he is an enemy to fear. Through the window, we saw smoke flying as if to hug the sky. My friends and I were screaming because we did not want to wallow in fire.

We were still unable to figure out what was happening. “Is there any tribal war?” Zainab asked. I started reciting the verse on forgiveness because I had concluded that I would die.

Some men began coming towards our house, they tied scarf round their face and left their eyes only. The bullets on their body and the guns they held made Amina to pee in her pant.

As they were approaching our house, they started shooting people who were trying to elope. A masked man who climbed three men with a microphone on his hand began addressing us. ” I am the commander of this sect, everybody inside should come out now before I burn all the houses here” he roared. Steadily, we matched out of our house as been ordered by our parents.

I had viewed my parents as fearless being, surprisingly, they became timid in the sight of gun. We knelt down in fear and Fatima; the most beautiful girl in our household was brought out and raped by the commander. No one could save her despite her scream and the tears that slipped down her face.

We children were separated from the adults. The way my mother was sobbing affected my emotion. We are here to indoctrinate you into our religion, we will bag away your children so that they will be our successor the commander said. We were taken away through two trucks.

The journey was very long that we had some break. I eavesdropped what the masked men were saying that we would be taken to Mumusa mountain. We will celebrate the successful mission when we finally reach Mumusa mountain, a masked man said. We did not know where Mumusa mountain was located but we later knew when we got there.

Our expectation was disappointed because we thought they would maltreat us but they treated us well.

We were enjoying ourselves through the warm welcome that the sect gave us. A banquet was held on our arrival. I was confused if they were celebrating us or their successful mission. During the banquet, the commander told us that some of us would be taken to Babida forest while some would remain in Mumusa mountain. I was afraid to be separated from my friends because I was chosen to go to Babida forest.

No one to called on, we embarked on the journey to Babida forest. I observed that different armed men were stationed on the road. They were hailing themselves on our arrival. As we got there, another banquet was held and we ate rich foods. We were told to be free with people here because they are freedom fighters and religious ones.
In the evening, my friends and I strolled around Babida forest.

The environment was very beautiful. As we reached Babida market, we saw a big worshipping house where the masked men were there worshiping the god I do not know. Waoh! Babida is a new nation. An announcement was made that we should all gather for orientation on how things were been run there.

Though I knew that it was not an orientation but a form of indoctrination, yet, I attended because I valued my life. Truly, we were indoctrinated. We drank a cup of water after the commander chanted into it. Our eyes became red and we craved to kill anybody who was not of Babida forest or Mumusa mountain. I could not remember my name nor my background.

The news that some of our mates in Mumusa mountain had been married to the masked men feared us because we were like an unripe mango that shouldnt be eaten. Later, the commander summoned us and allocated us to different men. I was given to one ugly man called Dakur. Dakur took me into his house. I was curious about what he wanted to do to me. Hey, put off your cloth and lay on the bed, Dakur said. I was surprised that he wanted to have an intercourse with a 12 year old girl.

Yes, I was deflowered by Dakur who raped me. For days, I was not myself because of the image of blood that gushed out from me. Our life was tattered as we were told that we would join the next mission. I was chosen to join the people.

When they noticed my resistance, I was given another cup to drink. My eyes changed and my courage was as strong as a rock. I was armed and we embarked on the mission. I killed some soldiers in the battle front and we returned victorious. Two days after that, my friend, Fatima died in a suicide mission. Again, Jumia died in another mission which called our attention that we were captives.

How will I escape from Babida forest? I rhetorically asked. My mates and I assembled ourselves secretly and attempted to escape. We have been moving before we heard an alarm that we were missing.

We were chased and I was caught after my leg slipped. I was brought back into the forest and I saw the dead bodies of my friends who also attempted to escape. It would have been better if I was beaten or killed as my friends were killed. Ah!. I was raped my 10 men as a punishment for my attempt. I was crying and already concluded that I would die. I fainted when the fifth man was on me. When I woke up, I was that same water to drink. I discovered that anytime I drank the water, my reasoning would be that of a beast and the water works in my body only for two days before renewal.

The pain of the rape affected my life. I was still mourning when trucks drove in another set of captives. They assembled them and planted bombs on them. Their mission was to bomb the community that I came from. I volunteered to join the mission because of the water I drank. I was given a gun to shoot any survivor of bomb blast. Before we embarked on the new mission, I was told to kill a runaway masked man.

He was buried after I smashed rocky stone on his head. Yes, we reached my community, I dropped down from the lorry, I started shooting those who survived the bomb blast. I saw my mother who was dying on the floor, yes, I killed her.

My daughter; Kalifa she shouted. I killed her because she was like a beast in my sight. We drove back to Babida forest and our return was celebrated.

After two days, the picture of my mother I killed began showing up, I was having nightmare. Then, I concluded to escape. I had already left Babida when I was caught again.

Ah! will I be raped by 10 men again I lamented. They were taking me back when an alarm rand that soldiers had laid an ambush around the forest.

They left me and ran back into the forest. I preferred being killed by the soldiers to rape. The soldiers appeared to me and took me away. I am still deliberating on what their judgment would be.

UNIOSUN Students Pen Down Letter To Inspector General Of Police ( Shocking)

A protesting letter was recently written to the inspector general of police by the student joint campus committee of Osun State University.

Through:

Dear Sir,

LETTER OF PROTEST

The headship of the above named body uses this medium to guilelessly extol the virtues of the Nigeria Police Force, Osun State Command, it’s shows of commitment to good working relationship with Osun State Students, sensitivity to the students’ plight so far and maintenance of peace in Osun State as the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
The purpose of writing this letter  however is not to lavish blandishment on NPF, Osun State, but, to protest our grievances and dissatisfaction over the harassment and extortment been faced by the students of Osun State University by the Policemen and this has been in occurrence for the past two years. Instances of these are;
Dubious collection of money from students.
Picking up indiscriminately, molesting and extorting students who are peacefully carrying out academic activities.
Bursting into the Students hostels, picking up Students Phones and Laptops forcefully without the School authority notification.
Shooting of two students by some set of policemen on 23rd, January, 2017 which nearly led to loss of life.
This is to bring to the attention of your good office the above subject matter for necessary actions as this is becoming unbecoming and this may later result to loss of life and damage of properties. Should our claims be confirmed to be within the limit of law and fundamental human right, we want absolute and proper measure to be taken to avert any other future occurrence.
Thank you.
Yours truly.

It is noteworthy that we are still holding talks with appropriate authorities and our confidence that the increment will be reversed is unflagging. Therefore, anyone who pays now is only giving charity to the school. Thanks.

Event Report Uniosun Students Unites To Reopening Of All The Campuses (See All Drama And Action Taken)

No comments :

The joint students campus committee met today(25/1/2017) at EJIGBO campus to discuss pressing matters towards the development of the University....

The first campus to arrive the venue was OKUKU CAMPUS with a very Grand entry vibrating and making their presence felt with various Aluta gyration....

Minutes later IKIRE CAMPUS arrived in a very silent and reserved manner, with the presence of the Joint student campus committee chairman(OHMARA VICTOR)..

*THE CHAIRMAN*🌝

Ohmara Victor!!!!! What a leader!!!!!

Being a leader is not easy and it's even harder when you lead vibrant students where there is no chance for the slightest slacking..
The way in which he was organised in tabling and discussing matters was epitomic..
He briefed students about the old/new developments about the ongoing issues which involved illegal shooting of 2 uniosun students and the death of a uniosun undergraduate(Ganiyat)..

*About the shooting*🔫

The chairman assured all that the students involved in the shooting are responding to treatment and that the culprits(policemen involved) have been apprehended and will be dealt with accordingly..  But there were suggestions that the case be properly monitored so that those involved in the inhumane act won't go unpunished.....

*WHY THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED*

This has caused confusion for a while among the students of this institution as to why all campuses were closed given that the incident that occurred was in oshogbo...

Some were bitter against the decision stating that it only affected OSHOGBO CAMPUS and only the campus should be closed.. Others even went to the extent of going down memory lane to what happened at IKIRE campus and stating that if oshogbo wasn't the main campus there wouldn't have been total shutdown of the institution...
The real reason for the closure according the chairman was Fear of the situation not spreading further to all campuses after seeing the level of unionism that now exists among students of the institution...

*THE MINI CHAOS: EJIGBO VS OKUKU*

There was war of words between host campus EJIGBO and OKUKU...  Almost caused an end to the meeting but was settled within minutes with a comrade from OKUKU campus apologising later in the meeting....

*OSHOGBO CAME LATE*

Took a while before comrades from oshogbo campus arrived and later apologized for their lateness...

*WAY FORWARD*🔜

The chairman talked about writing of a letter stating that we will phantom and maintain peace in our various campuses which was suggested by the V.C with EJIGBO strongly disagreeing with the suggestion emphasizing that the letter can/may be used against the students in the future..

There were suggestions of memorandum of understanding with the management and Round table meeting with them...

*ABOUT THE STUDENT UNION*

The chairman stated that he his still waiting for various campuses to submit their list of representatives...

*GENERAL SECRETARY KABIYESI*

The general secretary upon arrival also briefed us about the situation of things and read the letter written to the police by the students... .

*DSA SHOULD RESIGN???*

There are reports that the Dean of student affairs wants to tender her resignation letter and comrades were asked to put it to a vote if they still want her or not with majority of the students present screaming that they want her....
*we hope she doesnt resign*

*IPETU TO HOST JSCC IN FEBRUARY*

The next JSCC meeting will be hosted by IPETU-IJESHA CAMPUS in February....

*ASSURANCE THAT THE SCHOOL WILL BE OPENED VERY SOON*

The JSCC has assured students that the school will be opened very soon with students clamoring that the opening shouldn't extend past Monday 30/1/2017..

*HOST PRESIDENT SPEAKS TO PRESS*

The host president Com. Mellow spoke while speaking with me in an interview expressed his satisfaction towards the success of the meeting and assured that he will try his best with other comrades in ensuring the school opens soon.. He cleared the air about the confrontation between OKUKU and EJIGBO saying it was nothing serious as the goal of all is for the quick opening of the school..

Good News UNIOSUN Students Holds Successful Meeting See The Outcome Here (Must Read)

No comments :

The students of Osun State University, cut across the six campuses held a general meeting today at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ejigbo Campus, in order to discuss matters affecting the University at large.

The meeting was headed by the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee, Comrade Victor Ohamara, along with the other members of the committee. The committee started by stating the development of the upcoming Student Union Government (S.U.G). They stated that the S.U.G elections would be coming up soon, after an electoral committee would have been chosen at the upcoming General congress at Ipetu-Ijesha, on February 3rd.

A 1-minute silence was exercised to honour the deceased that died recently at Oshogbo Campus. The issue of insecurity was addressed, and students expressed their grievances and displeasures toward the rate at which the state policemen were harassing students, in the name of Yahoo-Yahoo boys.

A letter of protest was however reported to have been dropped to the Inspector General of Police, Osun State, by the Joint Campus Committee, to express the students anger and displeasure towards the acts of the policemen and also, demanded that the two policemen who shot two students last Saturday, be brought before justice in public, as soon as possible.

However, while discussing the issue of the "indefinite closure" of the campuses by the management, Comrade Kabiyesi, a major stakeholder from Oshogbo campus said, "We have held various meetings with the school management and we have been assured  that we will resume on Monday."

In an interview with the President of Ejigbo campus, after the meeting, he said, "I am happy for the unity and progress among the six campuses; Although there was a little rift among out campus and Okuku campus but, we were able to calm ourselves and stand with one aluta voice, especially with the help of Comrade Ohamara."

The Speaker of FAHSA, Ikire Campus, Honourable Gbonegun Great  his delight in the gathering of the campuses and promised to join hands in the progress of the six campuses, as one. However students were told to correct the notion that the hospital refused to attend to the late Feyisara, as the hospital did the best they could but,it was already late, after listening to from a reliable source.

Uniosun Student And There Wrong Kind Of Hustle

No comments :

Every school has a culture, in fact it seems to be like a spirit that drives the lifestyle people choose. From the Aluta Spirit of OAU to the Randy Sex Craze of Unilag and The Yahoo+ hustle of Lautech. Someone would expect that UNIOSUN would take after either UI which is well known for Academic over sabi and intellectual karamo!

Or if the students refused to follow UI, at least Great Ife is just 30 minutes drive from Osogbo. One would expect the ever vigilant and vibrant spirit of the Great OAU campus would infect UNIOSUN. who would have imagined that it is ordinary LAUTECH in Ogbomosho that will now become role model and mentor for such a beautiful school as this.

The whole of Okebaale is littered with hostels, totally out of the reach and influence of school management. The students have a hustling spirit, while they should be pushing hard to ace their grades a larger percentage are running after money-quick schemes.

Is it the multiplicity of yahoo boys quarters? Or the proliferation of Football betting shops, is it their involvement and love for Ponzi schemes like MMM and such? It is becoming a serious cause of concern that the students of this prestigious campus are choosing the wrong hustle.

It is not wrong to desire an entrepreneurial attitude, it is rather important that we choose the right hustle. It not only reflects on the kind of adults we will become, it also reflects on the image our school will forever bear. Maybe we will be another Lautech or Another UI or OAU or maybe UNIOSUN will actually standout as it was designed to do. This campus is one of the few satellite University systems that has thrived in a complex economy like Nigeria.

The students may look back and think they have little to be proud of, but each one of you would also have to ask yourselves what contributions you have made to create a better memory for your school. Choose the right hustle, be proud of UNIOSUN and YOURSELF.

Ikire Campus Holds Meeting To Rejects The Indefinite Closure Of The Versity (This The Out Come Must Read)

Comrade Ohamara Victor Chairman Uniosun Joint Students Campus Committee Put Down His View On What Happen In Main Campus Yesterday

No comments :

Writing from the perspective of an Ikire student but also the chairman of the Joint Student Council, I want to let our comrades from Osogbo campus understand the fact that a lot has been happening all over campuses that the main campus does not have a feel of. Other campuses individually shoulder their cross. It is only normal for nerves to rise when the main campus is seen as been given preference.
Meanwhile to our other campuses, especially Ikire, I perfectly understand our plight, because we are together and I know the experience as we all feel it but we should all remember that other comrades from other campuses could not have wade into struggle without having a recorgnised body, and this has been the main reason why we saw the need for a joint body, which is becoming a success very soon (SUG). So please let us painfully forget the past towards achieving a unified and promising future of equity and justice for all. There is no superior campus. There is just UNIOSUN.
In addition, I just left a meeting with the vice-chancellor, where he promised us (JSC) all that the school will be re-opened next week monday (30th, January), but that depends on how organised and peaceful the atmosphere will be. In fact we have agreed to sign an undertaken that we will be of good conduct and will not allow ourselves to be used, and this will ensure that the school is reopened for lectures next week. So please we should not frustrate plans which will ensure our speedy resumption.
I believe strongly that everyone here is a leader in one capacity or the other and we know how people with ulterior motives will want to hijack this kind of situations to their favour, we should be sensitive to our environment and know all that is going on within the management itself. We should not allow ourselves to be used, let's come together strong and unified and victory surely will be ours.
Let's not forget the old story of how easy it is to break a stick of broom compared to a bunch of broom.
Aluta Continua!!! Victoria Ascerta!!!                                    Just as the raindrops fills the ocean, together I believe we can stand to fill the void in our lives.                   Ohamara Victor,Chairman, Uniosun joint Students Campus Committee.

Fresh News Uniosun Ikire Campus Rejects The Indefinite Closure Of The Versity

No comments :

The ongoing situation in Osogbo campus and the subsequent resolution of the University Management to indefinitely close the campuses met with mix-feelings among the students of Ikire Campus.

The larger section of the students as well as the stakeholders expressed their displeasure and dissatisfaction over affiliating Ikire campus to ongoing ugly incidences ravaging the main campus.

Historically, an incidence similar to this occurred in Ikire campus in August 2014 in which three live were lost(one final year  student, one of the most vibrant lecturer and the driver) in the fatal accident. Sequel to this, the management coupled with the state government issued a memoir stating that all students should vacate the school premises. The closure of the school we all thought would last for two weeks later turned to over four months of staying at home.

As sad as the incidence was, it is unfortunate that not even a campus among the remaining campuses extends the hand of solidarity to us in the course of our struggle towards the re-opening our our campus. The entire students of Ikire campus were at home while curriculum activities continued in the remaining campuses. Upon resumption, we wrote three different examinations in a year as a punishment aside from  the four moths strike and #30,000 reparation fees.

In the light of this, it's important we note here that the students of Ikire are not heartless as we sympathize with the family of decease and the injured students as well as the entire students of Osogbo campus. However, we are only picking point from history because history they say remembers those who remember it.

We are of the belief that indefinite closure of all the campuses is not the best solution because some are not affected and Ikire campus  remain as calm as Osun river.

On this note we urge the management to rescind its decision on the indefinite closure. We are satisfied with the previous one week "mid term break", but indefinite?,never.

Ikire Campus.
